Capt. Joseph Alphonse is the founder of Almarco Maritime Pty Ltd. He has over 30 years experience in the marine industry and is actively involved in marine risk management for various projects and supply chains.
Capt. Alphonse has a Master’s Foreign Going, Certificate of Competency, Class 1 (Unlimited) from The New Zealand Maritime School. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Keele University, United Kingdom.
Capt. Alphonse is qualified as a Senior Associate member of Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (“ANZIIF”). He has a Diploma in General Insurance and a Certificate IV in General Insurance from ANZIIF.
He is a member of the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors (“AIMS”) and the International Institute of Marine Surveyors (“IIMS”).
Prior to founding Almarco, Capt. Alphonse served as a Marine Risk Consultant for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (“AGCS”), being part of Allianz Australia Ltd. He held this role for a period of over 7 years.
At AGCS, he was involved in the direction and management of marine transportation risks for large projects in Australia, including the LNG projects at Gladstone, AWD project at Osborne, Roy Hill project at Port Hedland and Hornsdale wind farm project at Adelaide.
